Golden by @HarryStyles reminds me of Cinque Terra, Italy, it’s weird it doesn’t fit the song, it doesn’t fit the place- or it didn’t at that time. But I played that song on loop as I walked between the towns, I think I streamed it the entire day. Almost a year later the video came out, filmed on the other end of Italy in a similar aesthetic of the Amalfi Coast. So I’m glad Harry and I seem to be on the same wavelength as to the feel of the song.
Sometimes songs transport you back to a time in your life. You hear those first few chords and the memories flood back. Still to this day when I hear Caramel by City High I’m transported to the back seat of a little rental car on one of the Hawaiian islands as my dad drives us on a hairpin turn highway. It’s weird because I played lots of music that trip, but that specific song takes me back.
