When we travelled through Tuscany, we made a beautifully renovated farmhouse in Capannori called VILLA MARZIA, our home base and this view every night was amazing.

The sunset over the valley of olive farms and vineyards was absolutely stunning every time. Sometimes the best places to stay are a little bit off the beaten path. This farmhouse was large enough for the 6 of us, was more than affordable and beautiful. If we had tried to find a similar house closer to some of the bigger cities the price would have almost doubled.

We often opt to find little hidden gems outside the major cities. We have stayed in castles, refurbished stables, and old family estates. It’s amazing to sometimes feel like you are transported back in time. You can imagine living in another time and daydream away while you are there.
AirBNB can be a wonderful tool to find some amazing off the beaten path homes away from home, but so can places like booking.com. Europe has multiple websites with Villas, Castles and B&Ba listed, if you are ever going to stay in something other than a hotel, I would highly recommend doing it over there. with quaint little towns and so much history it’s amazing to feel like you‘re living in the past.

Are you an off-the-beaten-path kind of person or are you someone who needs to be in the middle of the action? Would you prefer a cute little farmhouse or a five-star hotel in the centre of the city?
